I was supposed to grow up a beach person.
I grew up in South Florida, but every summer my mom packed me off to Vermont to visit my grandparents. They lived in what, to childhood me, was the most magical place on earth—a little house with a pond, woods to explore, and fireflies instead of palm trees.
Somewhere between those summers and adulthood, Vermont quietly became home. These days, I live here with my husband and our seven-year-old daughter, helping people buy and sell homes across Vermont while constantly plotting our next adventure. When I'm not showing houses, I'm probably researching flights, hiking a trail, rearranging my garden, or wondering how I ended up with so many senior rescue animals and chickens.
(It's never just one chicken.)
Over the past decade, I've learned that whether I'm helping someone buy a home or decide if a resort is worth the splurge, the job is surprisingly similar: ask good questions, pay attention to the details, and be honest about what's great—and what isn't.
That's really what Vermont Sandy is about.
A love letter to Vermont. A passport to places beyond it. Honest real estate without the sales pitch.
And, occasionally, a chicken with very strong opinions..
So....What's with the chicken?

Meet Honey Pancake, my fluffy black Silkie chicken and the unofficial mascot of Vermont Sandy. She's technically my daughter's chicken - but I've fallen in love with her and now she's secretly mine.
Honey Pancake has somehow become both my sidekick and my toughest critic. She regularly supervises gardening projects, inspects my home with unwavering confidence, and offers strong opinions (in my head, at least) on everything from luxury resorts to laundry rooms.
She appears throughout the site because, honestly, life is more fun with a little personality. Around here, you'll occasionally find Honey Pancake's Hot Takes, questionable advice, and the reminder not to take life—or real estate—too seriously.
She's also surprisingly photogenic.
